Meet JJ, circa April 10 2009 (Grandpa George's birthday!)

We had a growth ultrasound this morning and everything looks "gorgeous" according to the sonographer. All is still right on track, and JJ is currently coming in at a whopping 5 lbs. 14 oz. If babies are supposed to gain a pound a week at this point, that makes for one big dude if I still have four weeks left! Something tells me he'll be arriving well before my due date if my doc has anything to say about it.

Some might recall that at our last growth ultrasound we got pictures that I didn't want to share because I couldn't make out the poor kid's nose and mouth. We got almost the exact same profile picture today but thankfully this time, we got an explanation - the top bump is his nose, the bottom bump is his puckered mouth. Ah, so that's why I couldn't tell the difference between his two lips - he's been trying to blow his mommy a kiss! After last time I was convinced he was simply missing his lower lip. What a relief. And those big blobs below his chin? His hands. Apparently the kid is a fan of his arms because at all three of the ultrasounds we've had, he's had at least one hand by his face.

Otherwise, you might be able to pick out that the second picture is him facing the camera. How about those pudgy little cheeks??

If you want a closer look, just click on the picture and you'll get a much bigger version.
