Just fabulous

So this swine flu thing is Iowa's newest resident. Wonderful. I realize that as usual the media is doing a spectacular job of scaring the bejeezus out of everybody, and that nine times out of ten they're probably not the people to listen to. The neighbor kid probably has a better handle on the reality of the situation than they do. But I guess when you're looking at having a baby sometime in the next few weeks, what you see on every TV channel and website and in every newspaper and magazine on planet Earth is just a little fear-inducing. I'm never one to take these pandemic threats too seriously when it comes to my own health, but factor my soon-to-be-born child into the equation and some heads might just roll. Who exactly approved this virus, anyway? And who said it was ok for the people in Mexico City to blow off fevers, coughs, sneezes, aches and whatever other pains to the point that some of them died? I mean come on, is somebody forgetting about the 39-week pregnant chicks in Iowa and what kind of meltdowns this could potentially create in their already fragile minds? Here I am at the tail end of what has so far been a successful pregnancy, and this happens. Thanks a lot, World. Now excuse me while I borrow my hands for another dousing of hand sanitizer, the 15 minutes are up.
