Mama said there'll be days like this

Actually my mom didn't, but the Shirelles' apparently did. Today was my bi-monthly Tuesday off of work (one of the perks of being a bank employee is you "get" to work some Saturdays - the good thing about this is that it is rewarded with a day off during the week prior) which to most becomes an opportunity for errands, household chores, catching up on paperwork, etc, or in my case the occasional mad dash to Iowa City. When you are the parent of an almost one-year-old, however, this "catching up on life" aspect is overshadowed by the insanity that is chasing a speed crawler for what feels like an entire day straight. Yes, MW took a couple of short but helpful naps during the day, but the hours of 2pm to 6pm (when Daddy rode through the door on his chariot like a knight in shining armour) were trying at best. Mom desperately wanted to finally fit in a shower, kid decided to kick things up a few notches. Three times in one hour I tried to put him down for a nap when I spied him rubbing his eyes and yawning, three times in one hour he had meltdowns the size of Texas all the while standing at attention in his crib. Needless to say, Mommy didn't care that Daddy had just wrapped up an eight-hour day sandwiched between two forty minute drives...Mommy handed baby off to Daddy and disappeared into the bathroom for a good solid 45 minutes of alone time. Tell me again how stay at home moms do it?? Sigh...we'll try again in two more weeks.

On a lighter note, here's a shot of said patience-tryer a few days ago, when Mommy was much happier with him. :) I like to call it "Letting MW Have the Spoon", and never was the written word so, so true (Hint: bib). Doesn't he just look so sweet an innocent?

P.S. I changed the look of the blog - temporarily. Although I loved it, I was so very over the winter chick with the coffee mug and ready for something with no hint whatsoever of cold weather. Not sure what I'll come up with next but it's sure to take me hours of wasted time trying to figure out how to upload!

  1. Maggie, have I ever shown you the picture of Josh in the high chair wearing spaghetti all over his face and hair? If not, I need to bring it to Iowa in May! Will is cute as ever! Can't wait to see you all!
